Caroline Scott Braddock

Praise be to our great God!

Well, we had a baby tonight.  We, meaning Katie did the birthing part and I was there.  When I woke up on Friday morning, Katie told me that she was going to have a baby today.  She felt horrible all night and just knew this was it.  See, Katie has done this a time or two and I have to say, she's pretty good at birthing babies.  She doesn't mess around.  When things start to progress, they go quickly.
Let me start over and say that I knew she had contractions during the night but I had NO IDEA she was still having them until this afternoon when she said, "Let me borrow your watch for a minute."  Within five minutes we were out the door to the hospital.  That was just after she had gone to get her pedicure.  I guess she called Allyson on her way to get her feet just looking so before the big event, Allyson realized the urgency and called Katie's Mama.  Betty was at the house in no time and waiting to take the girls when Katie pulled up with some fine looking toes.
Katie and I head off to the hospital in Cullman.  No matter what Katie says, we were getting passed by a ton of cars on the interstate.  The entire time Katie isn't feeling well and seemed to be progressing along in labor quite well.  With Julia, when we showed up to the hospital so far along that she wasn't able to have any pain medication.  It was basically, show up to push.
In we come to the Cullman hospital and see the doctor on call and he measures her at 1 and about 60%.  Not exactly what we were expecting.  In fact, an hour later, the same.  The doctor is basically giving us the option to head home.  We aren't moving anywhere because we have done this before!  Katie walks one lap around the floor in about ten minutes, gets back and can barely climb back in the bed because of the pain.  Nurse walks in and measures her at six.  She goes and gets another nurse.  The second nurse measures her at seven.  All of a sudden prep for a baby begins in panic mode.  Sound familiar doctor Amy?
Epidural is started, everything is ready, the nurse asks her to push.  Caroline is born seconds later.  That's right, not even really one push.  Katie did a great job and Caroline is such a beautiful baby!
I went with Caroline down to the nursery where her oxygen levels were taken.  She was averaging around 94 to 95 percent which is way higher than we were expecting.  Her heart sounds good and everything tonight is fantastic.  Although we have had no confirmation either way, I am sure that our little Caroline is a Downs baby.  She is such a beautiful girl and looks just like her three beautiful sisters.
How blessed we are to have such an amazing and wonderfully created little girl.  Thank you, God!!!!!!  Anybody want to join us in our praise, tonight?!!  How crazy is it that God has blessed me with four, count them four, little girls!  I've earned several different titles in my life.  My favorite?  My little girl's Daddy.
