Cardiology Follow-Up

Caroline had a fantastic follow-up appointment with her cardiologist on Friday. He said that her heart has continued to improve in the two weeks since her surgery and now what once was a "good" repair is now a "BEAUTIFUL" repair. He said that the results of Caroline's surgery were "absolutely the best that we could've hoped for." PRAISE GOD! Not only does he not think that Caroline will not need additional surgery, but is also beginning to wean her off the medication that she's taking - with no expectation that she'll even need medicine long term. Unbelievable!

In other Caroline news, she has now officially started "School"! We have begun therapy at the Bell Center on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Caroline will receive one on one therapy in every discipline you can imagine - speech, physical, occupational... - for an hour twice a week. We are so excited about The Bell Center that we can hardly stand it. My expectations are HIGH for what they can accomplish because their reputation sets the bar exceptionally high. We've only been twice so far but already I can see results of what they're doing. It's a commitment to get there. The big kids can't go, so childcare has to be arranged ( there's my village to the rescue AGAIN) and it's an hour and 15 minute drive one way. The time in the car will add up quickly, but the results will be worth it and I think I'll learn to enjoy my quiet time in the car. :)

I bought Caroline a bathtub at a consignment sale last week. Like most all of our baby items, the bathtub that I used with the big girls is somewhere lost in the maze of our storage sheds. The picture is Caroline (now 4 months old) sitting in the water for the first time. I've been giving her sponge baths out of my cake tupperware pan all this time. Poor sweet baby. For the record, she LOVES the bathtub!

I do have 3 other children. :) Remember them? They're precious and busy and growing quickly as well. Grace was selected to represent her class on the Student Council. Her first assignment was to create a poster to advertise the upcoming canned food drive. Making the first Student Council poster seemed like a milestone to photograph. She is very much my daughter...

My name is Kelly and a friend of mine found your blog and thought I might enjoy keeping up with your precious family. I am a stay at home mom of 3 boys and my 3rd son was born with DS. He is 6 months old and doing great. I live in Montgomery, AL and am making the trek to The Bell Center twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons as well .We have been at The Bell Center for 6 weeks and have seen tremendous progress in Vaughan's gross motor. So, I think you will shortly realize what a blessing the Bell Center is to your family! I would love for us to meet up at The Bell Center one of these days - I will leave my contact info with Ms. Betty tomorrow - so if you want to contact me you can.
