Christmas was great. The new house is unbelievable. The kids are fun. The husband is amazing. God is faithful. Is that enough recap? Thanks. I think so too.
Moving on...
A couple of potentially blog-worthy stories from this week. On Sunday, the kids came running in. "Mama! You HAVE GOT (with much expression) to come see this! The coolest thing ever!" The girls had been playing so well together all afternoon. Quiet, peaceful, in another room kind of play. I go to see the coolest trick ever. The three princesses had taken the lamp from the nightstand and put it on the floor. They had emptied a roll of scotch tape in a jillion little pieces. They discovered that if you put one of the jillion directly onto the top of the light bulb, it "makes steam", smells funny and comes off feeling "crunchy". After explaining that their peaceful play involved potentially burning the house down, they've been appropriately scared off of playing with hot lightbulbs.
After plunging the kids' potty on two different occasions this week (only one of which involved an actual spillover, thank you, Lord!) and fishing half a roll of toilet paper from the potty with a broken coat hanger, I've learned that Grace has a whole new respect for the mama job. As she watched me fish, I saw a whole new appreciation grow in her eyes. Seriously. It was funny. I might've thrown in a "see how much fun this job can be some days??" line, for good measure, but she spent the whole day in super-helpful mode. "Can I help you, Mama?" "I'll get it for you, Mama!" Who knew?
As I was driving to Birmingham today, the traffic came to an absolute stop on the interstate for about 35 minutes. Caroline woke up when the car stopped moving and then (of course) began to let me know that it was lunch time. She only drinks it when the milk is just a tad over warm. No cooler. No hotter. What's a mama to do?? Well, I got out, walked 3 cars back and two lanes over and asked the man driving the motor home if I could borrow his microwave. You all would've done the same thing, but Scottie liked that story. :) Did I mention that the traffic started moving just as he was handing it back to me??
That's been our week. Thanks for letting me share. I hadn't really decided whether I was going to pick the blog back up - it's hard to jump back in after not writing for so long. I'm also reading so many good blogs now that it's hard to imagine why anybody would have a desire to read about my silly little stories. However, my sweet husband and both of my sisters read it...
The blog also gives me great opportunity to share super special things with you as well. We've got a VERY big thing brewing. In itself, is a reason to write... Whew. Cliffhanger, huh? It's tomorrow's post. Relax, 99% of you know about it already. More tomorrow.
