The marathon was nothing short of amazing. It absolutely fulfilled every single expectation I had of just how great it would be. The whole weekend was fantastic.
We began on Saturday morning with the Bell Center Children's Race. The children who attend the Bell Center have a 50 yard dash to the finish line and receive a special medal upon completion. The children walked, ran, used their walkers, were strolled or carried. Some of the kids needed a lot of time to move that 5o yards, but what an inspiration they were!!!
In his words, Scott saw a miracle happen on Sunday morning. He completed the 26.2 mile race!! Maybe he'll write a post and tell you all about it. How am I supposed to do it justice? He did GREAT! I think he truly enjoyed many parts of the race, endured parts of the race and detested the idea of the race at some points. He admits that he's glad there wasn't a "turn back" spot at about the 18 mile mark. He says that he felt like an Olympian at some points where he ran through water stations, grabbed his drink and then threw the cup on the street - just like they do on tv. :) I seriously couldn't be prouder.

He had an amazing fan club cheering him on. We would find a point along the race route and cheer runners for 15 or 20 minutes, waiting for our main man to run by. We'd cheer and go crazy and then either walk or drive to a point further down the route and cheer for the same folks again. We had such a great time! Despite the snow and frigid weather the previous day, the weather on Sunday was beautiful and comfortable (in the sun at least). Of course, we're 6 for 6 in running fevers so far this week...

Most importantly, we raised a miraculous amount of money. Thank you, God! When Scott registered for the race, he had a $1200 fundraising commitment. In all honesty, I thought we would be blessed to raise half of that. As of tonight, I think we're at $2975.00!!!!!!! This blows my mind. It excites me beyond measure to think of how many children will be helped with that money!!!! To God be the glory, Great things He has done!!!

That is sooo awesome what your husband did!! I'm a runner and I've been looking for a race to do to raise money for Down syndrome research or something along those lines. I just think it's wonderful that he had that opportunity. Congrats to you all for your efforts!
Hootie Hoot Scott! Thanks for sharing such an amazing story and fantastic pictures. I think Scott does need to tell his story someday. We are so proud of you all and Caroline looks especially proud of her Daddy.
