Curtains

My sweet husband gave me a terrific act of service the other night.  He hung the curtains in the living room (with two of his trusty assistants).  The day that we found the curtains amongst the boxes in one (of our two) storage sheds was a very happy day.  The day that he hung the curtains topped it.  I am tremendously thankful for this particular chore because (as I have learned), it is one that I am incapable of.  As a recently retired (and even more recently reinstated) Navy wife, I am proud of the fact that I have tried and succeeded in most every household task - even those previously thought to have been "men's work".  You do that when the men folk are few and far between.

On Scott's last deployment, the girls and I moved from our house in Hanford to base housing.  It was a much bigger house in a FANTASTIC neighborhood (though I missed you, Courtney!).  My friend Betsy volunteered to help me hang curtains in my new living room.  Just as a warning, curtain rods are EXTREMELY difficult to hang - requiring at least 2 screws per side which must be level with each other and it helps if the window isn't framed with metal inside the sheetrock as it was in base housing.  NEVER in my life have I had such a Lucy and Ethel moment as trying to hang curtains with my sweet friend, Betsy.  After MULTIPLE holes in the wall, broken drill bits and laundry to do from laughing so hard :) my curtains STILL fell down in the middle of the night and had to be fixed by Jeff, the last male on the block.

My dear friend Betsy always made me laugh til I cried - a quality that I LUV about her.  I've been thinking a lot about you, Betsy, and wanted to give a shout out when I saw Scott on the ladder the other night.  (Now I only hope that you read this blog! :) )   So here's the shout out, Betsy... Konnichiha!  (That's Japanese for hello - She lives in Japan now and I learned that bit of Japanese from A Different World - remember when Dwayne Wayne worked in Japan??)

Thanks Katie for your book suggestion. I have read some of it already but would definitely need a huge cheat sheet to be a super woman like she is. That is what I call a super duper Mom! You are 2nd behind her especially after I read of your travels. Glad to know Scott is taking care of business.

Well, Golllllyyyy! I got a mention! I have been thinking of you and trying to catch you on ichat as well. So, I still have this link on one of your emails and thought....if I want to find out what is going on with Miss Katie....I better check her blog! Glad I did...there is A LOT going on. Give me a buzz or email when you can. Wade flew a cross country this weekend to VA Beach & is taking advantage to visit his folks. I would welcome some adult conversation. BTW, when do I get my Braddock visit? Your crew is always welcome here in our small bungaloo. ....another btw, Scott went active again or reserves? Courtney
