In order to avoid an "update", I'm just going to tell you about my doctor visit last week. I picked my obstetrician at random from the list provided by my insurance company. I prayed about it first. Then, I read through the list.
Dr. Amy Short delivered Julia in California. Not only is she an excellent doctor, but more importantly, she's one of my best friends and an amazing example of what a Spirit-led woman really looks like. She's also now a mother of 5. Wow wow wee.
I also had a friend in Cali named Glory Dei. Her name literally means "Glory to God in the highest." I always thought that was cool and I hadn't ever met a "Glory" before.
As I was trying to choose a doctor, I'm scrolling through and run across a semi-familiar name, "Glori Short." I prayed about it and felt like this was the doctor for me.
Well, fast forward 6 months into the pregnancy (last week) and I'm having my first regular ob check-up after 3 visits with specialists. Dr. Short mentioned that I had gained a couple of pounds. "It's been a stressful month," was my answer to that. Basically, she hadn't yet received reports from the UAB doctors and didn't really know what was going on. I started at the beginning and recounted everything that we had done and what the doctors had said. When I got to the point in telling her that we had chosen not to do the amnio...but many days I wish we had so that I had some peace about a diagnosis.... I started getting choked up and emotional. Dr. Short jumped out of her chair, grabbed me a kleenex, held one of my hands in hers and interrupted me with, "No. Do not let the devil let you second guess decisions that you make about your family. You're a good mama and doing the right thing... blah blah blah. This child is a blessing from God and I will continue to pray for you, your baby and your family...." She squeezed my hand and hugged my neck twice.
This is the extremely condensed version. The bottom line is that the Lord totally led me to the right doctor. If you live in Cullman, Hartselle, Decatur, Huntsville, Birmingham or even Nashville and need an ob/gyn, I'm telling you that Dr. Glori Short is where it's at. :) She's a blessing that is even greater than what I could've prayed for. What greater recommendation is there?? :)
