Joyful News!

Know what this is a picture of??  Lots of healthy children.  Praise the Lord, we're going to have one more to add.

After our original ultrasound, the doctor saw a measurement on the back of the baby's neck that was "a hairline" off.  We were referred to a specialist at UAB who we saw last week.  After a week of waiting for the appointment, the only thing that we learned in Birmingham was that the measurement wasn't an anomaly and was indeed "off".  This neck measurement is a genetic marker of several chromosonal conditions - namely Down's Syndrome and Turner's Syndrome.  We did some blood work (the quad screen) and were told to wait another 12 days for a repeat ultrasound and blood work results.

The waiting has been hard.  While we believe that this baby is "fearfully and wonderfully made" and a true gift from the Lord, we were anxious to know what we were dealing with and how we might best prepare.  We've had some mighty prayer warriors fighting on our behalf.  The Lord has removed the fear from whatever diagnosis we might've received - we've (read I've) been emotional about the health of the baby but by His grace have remained peaceful about whatever the outcome might be.  Having experienced the two miscarriages and then finally getting through the first 12 weeks of this pregnancy, the continued waiting has been frustrating and difficult.  However, the Lord is faithful and we trust his perfect plan for this baby and our family.

I did get a phone call today from the UAB office that said the blood work came back and that everything looks "PERFECT".   We now have every reason to believe that this baby is perfectly healthy.  The doctor wants to see us again on Monday at UAB to do a follow-up ultrasound.  We continue to ask for your prayers for the health of this baby girl, that she would cooperate with showing the doctors all the parts of her sweet little anatomy on Monday (something she has yet to do), and that we would receive confirmation that she is indeed healthy.

Thank you, Lord, for continuing to work miracles and for revealing more about yourself to us with whatever we're walking through.  We are so eternally grateful...
