Three Hours, Three Staples & Ice Cream Later...

Shelby had her first injury visit to the Emergency Room yesterday afternoon.   She was standing on her bed during naptime and fell,  knocking the back of her head on her wooden headboard.  She hit the headboard hard enough to break it clean off.  It was a small gash, but pretty wide.  Thankfully, I had my sweet Daddy to call.  He volunteered to come off the river (quite a sacrifice since apparently the fish were really biting!!) and keep the other two girls while Shelby and I visited the ER.  My poor sweet baby had three staples put into her head.  It was miserable.  The nurse and I are convinced that the doctor didn't wait long enough for the numbing medicine to fully kick in.  I can't imagine telling Shelby that she'll have to go back on Wednesday to have them removed!!!  We stopped at DQ on the way home for an ice cream cone and now all is well.  :)  Knowing Shelby, it's absolutely miraculous she hasn't been to the ER (at least for an injury) until now.  That girl lives life at full speed.  I absolutely loved my quality time with her at the hospital yesterday.  She's such a joy to be with and a blessing to be around.

So I guess the trip to Decatur didn't happen. Glad to know that she is doing okay and I loved talking to you yesterday. I hope you survived your night with all the children. Keep me updated as to how the baking goes. I thought about you and your baking this morning at 6:00 am.

Daniel had 5 stitches in his chin back in late August!! He jumped off the stairs and hit his chin on the hardwood floor. Poor baby! It was awful getting them put in and taken out. I hope you guys are doing well !
