Redbox

Have you discovered Redbox yet??? Other than the drive-thru grocery store, this just might be the greatest invention for a mom with small kids. Or possibly the greatest invention yet. Is there a Nobel Prize for convenience? Redbox would be it.

Redbox is the red DVD vending machine available in many towns - even my small town has 2 locations. In my town, there is one in the lobby/cart area of Wal-Mart and at Walgreens. The DVD selection includes both new and oldish releases and costs $1 per day. You choose your movie, swipe your credit card and off you go. It's seriously that easy.

At my Walgreens it gets even easier. The Redbox machine is on the exterior of the building. I park, walk right up while leaving my kids in the car, pick out my movie and am back in the car in under 2 minutes. Fabulous.

I've totally loved it this summer when there's been nothing of value on tv at night. I'm a movie lover but have avoided taking my kids to the movie rental store at all costs. They walk through the store wide-eyed at all the choices. Not all of the choices are appropriate for their little eyes. In fact, MANY of them are not. Redbox to the rescue. :)

Anyway, if you should call me after the kids are in bed on a weeknight, you'll most likely find me snuggling with my baby and watching my $1 movie. Pitiful and yet utterly fantastic. :)
